Job Description

A General Accountant/Payroll Officer is responsible for performing general accounting functions such as accounts payable/receivable and payroll, preparing bank reconciliations and applying accounting principles and procedures to ensure the accurate input of financial information.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Payroll

  • Main point of contact for employees on payroll issues and ensures that all employees are paid on time and accurately through the responsible coordination and preparation of weekly/monthly payroll.
  • Processes and assists in the coordination and preparation of payroll in accordance with company policies, and maintains employee records while providing effective communications with all staff regarding payroll matters.
  • Validates payroll liabilities (salaries payable; SSS; PhilHealth and Pag-Ibig contributions and withholding tax).
  • Generates payroll information for timely month-end and yearend reporting (SSS, Pag-Ibig and PhilHealth deductions, withholding tax, BIR form 2316, etc.) Tax Annualization on Compensation; Printing of form 2316 and distribution to all employees.
  • Maintains employee records while providing effective communication with all staff, managers, and external stakeholders, ensuring that enquiries regarding payroll matters are addressed in a prompt and appropriate manner.

General Accounting

  • Performs the processing and recording of accounts payable transactions and ensures that all invoices and staff reimbursements are paid accurately and in accordance with Finance policies and procedures.
  • Performs general accounts reconciliations, including bank statements, fixed assets, employer’s benefit costs, accruals and prepaid expenses.
  • Liases and builds relationship with banks, suppliers, and government agencies (BIR, PEZA, SEC, SSS, PHILHEALTH, HDMF, City Office), and all departments of the company.
  • Prepares and submits periodic reports and returns required by BIR, PEZA, SEC, SSS, PHILHEALTH, HDMF, City Office.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accountancy, Banking, or equivalent.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
  • At least 3-5 years experience as a General Accountant/Payroll Officer in a medium to large corporate environment, preferably as an in-house support for a BPO company.
  • Experience in auditing and payroll preparation; government remittances and has strong understanding of local statutory reporting, filing, etc. (BIR, SSS, HDMF, SEC, BOI, PEZA, DOF).
  • Extensive working experience in handling payroll processing, final pay, accounts payable/receivable, and government-mandated remittances.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, especially highly skilled in use of Excel Spreadsheets).
  • Extensive knowledge in Accounting Standards (PFRS, IFRS); Australian GAAP and Philippine Taxation.
  • Demonstrate analytical skills to interpret and comprehend financial and non-financial data.
  • Ability to work flexibly and demonstrate a willingness to respond to changing work requirements and peak periods.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in order to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management.
  • High level of interpersonal skills with demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy; team player and can collaborate with other teams in the organization.
  • Be able to demonstrate attention to details and good-record-keeping.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; hands-on and detail-oriented.
  • Perfectionist by nature, with no tolerance for financial sloppiness; highly skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data.
  • Excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures.
