Asahi Electrical Manufacturing Corporation

117 P. Parada St., San Juan, Philippines

Asahi Electrical Manufacturing Corporation was established in 1982 in San Juan City by Mike Chokee Sy and a few of his business partners. These founders had a goal of giving the Filipino market an alternative choice in small appliances, specifically electric fans. It all started with one product, the Spiro Aire electric fan, which captured the market because of its convertibility, ease of use, durability, and affordability. However, just like other businesses in the country, Asahi experienced instability during the People Powers Revolution in 1986. This led to the other business partners backing out and selling their shares to Mike Chokee Sy. The company then had to start all over again but never did it falter nor waver in action. It even added more products to meet the demand for small appliances. In 1992, business was steady and the company opened a new plant in Pasig City to allow more room for growth. From then on, the company has taken leaps and bounds in innovating its products and has flourished into becoming a giant in the industry. The company’s success was then recognized and awarded as a Superbrand since 2008.
