Job Description
Crawford & Company is continually enhancing its line of business processing systems using Microsoft SQL Server 2005, 2008 (r2), 2010 and 2014. We are seeking to recruit an experienced Junior SQL Analyst Programmer to strengthen the ICT Software Development team’s capability in this area.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake programming tasks of designing, prototyping, coding, testing and investigating faults.
- Collect and translate internal business requirements into technical requirements, in conjunction with specialist business analysts, to contribute with creative programmatic solutions.
- Apply quality database design principals always bearing in mind the needs of the users.
- Work with internal and external technical staff on business to business data solutions.
- Provide succinct updates on progress to the senior management team.
- Keep up to date with the latest developments in the field of database technology.
- Create documentation necessary for implementation to ensure that systems are fully operational and supported in the customer environment.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience & Skills Required
- At least 2 years in-depth experience as a SQL Analyst Programmer using the following technologies:
Essential Technical Skills
- Microsoft SQL Server T-SQL scripting (e.g. advanced stored procedures, functions, triggers, error handling, optimisation, hints, application and maintenance of indices)
- Query Performance Optimisation
- A thorough understanding of logical and physical database design processes
- Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) and Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
- Use of Excel 2005/2007/2010 as a reporting/MI tool
- Change Management Procedures
- Compliance with Data Governance policies
Beneficial Skills (not essential to the role, but would be advantageous)
- Use of Tableau as a reporting/MI tool
- Microsoft ProClarity web-based reporting tools
- Experience of creating predictive analytics models
- Experience of using Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 and 2013
- Knowledge of non-Microsoft tools such as Redgate, Idera etc.
- General database administration (backups / optimisation / troubleshooting)
- Source control (Subversion, VSS)
- JSON and XML data formats
- Business Process Management (BPM) systems
