Job Description

Responsible for promoting and growing the sale of products and systems by Creating demand for the company’s products/systems in the following targeted key construction market sectors:

Hotel

Residential

Commercial & Office

Institutional (Education, Healthcare )

by influencing target customers (architects, property developers, building acoustic consultants, fire consultants and other specifiers) to specify and use products/systems in their building projects.

Within his area of responsibility –

  • Identifies and qualifies potential customers and building projects for specifications development
  • Proactively selects monitors and tracks the progress of key projects within the key construction market sectors targeted by the company.
  • Builds brand equity and cultivates strong business relationships with Architects, Interior Designers, Property Developers, Engineers, Consultants and other specifiers by
  • Ensuring the comprehensive communication of the features, benefits, value propositions and relevant technical know-how regarding the use and application of products and systems in order to persuade them to specify products/systems in their building projects (with a view to achieving successful penetration against substitute building products and systems such as fiber-cement, plywood, brick & block and sand & cement).
  • Provide customers with professionally written specifications of recommended systems for consideration during the concept and design stages of construction
  • Providing technical advice and training on products and systems.
  • Providing on-site support and audit on the proper installation of products and systems; demonstrate and explain best practices in installation techniques for all systems
  • Establish and maintain long-term business relationships with new and current customer base.
  • Provides technical training and support on products and systems to Distributors’ sales teams. Continuously be updated and abreast of all the latest technical information on products and systems.
  • Monitors, analyses and provides management with all relevant market and competitive information
  • Ensure full compliance with the up-to-date reporting requirements of management through the CRM tool and other sales applications
  • Detailed and accurate recording of activities including weekly call plans, visit reports, and details of agreements made with customers.
  • Proper tracking and monitoring of relevant projects and packages in the key targeted construction market sectors
  • Timely preparation of monthly performance reports and other ad-hoc reports that may be required
  • Coordinates with the project sales team to ensure that specified projects are properly turned over to the projects team for tracking and sales conversion.
  • Advise management of any changes in local building industry requirements and highlight opportunities for New Product Development and/or opportunities for the provision of new systems and services to Customers.
  • Ensure up-to-date knowledge of products;
  • Maintain awareness of any pertinent client information and future plans; communicate any client information that may affect company decisions to appropriate departments as needed
  • Attend and participate in trade shows, conferences and other marketing events
  • Ensures own personal safety and the safety of others, particularly when driving and when visiting hazardous areas including (but not limited to) building sites and warehouses. Maintain an adequate “trunk” stock of literature, samples and employee’s own PPE including hard hat, safety shoes, hi-vis vest/jacket and safety glasses.
  • Any other ad hoc activities that may be required by management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a technical field; Preferably with bachelor’s degree in architecture or civil engineering
  • With selling experience in architectural construction materials; knowledge of the building industry and how building projects work and how building sites operate
  • Excellent ability to qualify potential customers and building projects
  • Self-motivated, positive attitude and enthusiastic; ability to work under pressure
  • Microsoft Office proficiency and strong ability to adapt to digital sales/CRM applications
  • Excellent research habits to build knowledge base – customers, competition, products, market needs, etc.
  • Customer focus – ability to seek and understand customer needs
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; excellent listener
  • Strong presentation skills and professional appearance
  • Ability to probe for details, handle objections and close deals
  • Ability to trigger emotional buying behavior
  • Ability to gain customer’s trust and build long term relationships
  • Strong network creation and referral maximization
  • Excellent written and oral communication; good command of the English language
  • At least 3 years in a technical sales role, with a manufacturing company in a B to B environment involving products related to building or construction
