Job Description

Responsible for achieving the sales volume, revenue, profitability, market share and relationship objectives of the company for the retail trade segment by directing his/her sales team to implement sales plans through effective planning, budgeting, coaching and delegation with a focus on:

  • Increasing trade channel penetration, maximizing in-store visibility and building brand awareness. Build a strong brand position to ensure profitable and sustainable business at the trade level.
  • Creating demand for the company’s products and systems by influencing decision-makers to specify, approve and use products on building projects and referring these projects to the trade channel
  • Development and implementation of the distribution trade channel strategy and programs
  • Map out assigned terrotory and ensure all potential wholesale and retail outlets are served through the company channel network, either directly by the company’s main distributors or thru sub-dealers.
  • Establish excellent working relationships with the company’s main distributors and trade customers (dealers, sub-dealers and retailers) to gain their active support.
  • Support main distributors in indentifying, qualifying and acquiring dealers and large retail accounts (e.g. Modern trade)
  • Proactively be aware of, monitor and track the progress of projects (not covered by the Specs and Projects teams) within the designated territory for referral to distributors and sub-dealers for sales conversion.
  • Create and execute trade promotions programs, merchandising activities and brand building programs to maximize the company’s products availability and visibility in the trade. Ensure all trade initiatives comply with company standards; manage the trade distribution marketing and promotions budget
  • Assist the Country Development Manager in the development of the digital strategy
  • Monitor and provide management feedback on all market information and competitor activities
  • Advises management of any opportunities for New Product Development and/or opportunities for the provision of new systems and services to customers.
  • Ensure correct usage of CRM and other sales applications and ensure full compliance by the project sales team with the up-to-date reporting requirements of management
    1. Detailed and accurate recording of employee’s activities including weekly call plans, visit reports, and details of agreements made with customers.
    2. Timely preparation of monthly performance reports and other ad-hoc reports that may be required
  • Hire high-performing salespeople according to HR staffing guidelines.
  • Train new salespeople to ensure success.
  • Manage day-to-day performance of all sales team members and deliver reviews.
  • Work with Country Development Manager to generate ideas for sales motivational initiatives.
  • Lead and schedule weekly and/or monthly team meetings with sales team and leadership.
  • Coach and develop direct reports.
  • Implement performance plans according to company procedure.
  • Embody company culture and maintain high sales employee engagement.
  • Collaborate with IT on sales technology initiatives.
  • Meet pre-determined sales volume and revenue goals through the activities of direct reports.
  • Ensures the personal safety of the project sales team in the conduct of their duties, in particular during project site visits and when driving.
  • Other ad hoc activities as may be assigned

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in any field; technical background is a plus
  • Knowledge of sales and marketing principles, trade promotion and merchandising

  • Minimum of 5 years in a sales distribution or marketing role, with a manufacturing company in a B to B environment involving products of a technical nature relating to building or construction.
