Job Description
- Lead, oversee and train the Finance & Accounting Operations teams to develop and maintain accounting principles, records practices and procedures and submit accurate and timely financial statements and reports.
- Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
- Identify the strategies and set the direction for the team of accounting specialists.
- Be responsible to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Provide training and development to staff Handle personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues.
- Work with direct reports to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
- Review all month-end closing activities including general ledger maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations, and corporate/overhead cost allocation.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close reports.
- Ensure that all financial and regulatory reporting deadlines are met.
- Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors.
- Manage the organization for the preparation and support of all external audits.
- Ensure the accurate and timely processing of disbursements.
- Manage the budget and forecasting activities of the company, providing accurate and timely information to the EXECOM.
- Ensure timely and efficient collection of revenue and due payment of obligations.
- Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
- Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
- Collaborate with the accounting department managers, business unit heads, and the EXECOM to drive overall department/company goals and objectives.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA required.
- Minimum of 7 years professional experience in accounting, reporting, consolidation and financial analysis.
- Experience in retail and manufacturing industry a plus.
- Strong interpersonal, supervisory and customer service skills required.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Must be detail oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Must be a self-starter, able to prioritize tasks, and have the ability to multi-task and work independently.
- Ability to understand transactional processes and implement improvements.
- Must be team-player / able to work well with others in fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required.
- Ability to identify and communicate problems and discuss various solutions.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet critical deadlines.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
