Key Responsibilities
Strategy and Planning - Enhance Shareholders' Value (Financial)
- Ensure all risks undertaken are within the approved Risk Appetite of the Group
- Review and provide insightful and forward-looking views of the salient risk issues/matters of the Group to the Board of Directors, CEO and Risk Committees
- Serve as an Advisor to the Boards, CEO, Senior Management and Risk Committees of all relevant entities under the Group in all material areas of risk (internal, external and emerging risks that might impact the Group)
- Cover all risks undertaken by CIMB Bank as designated by the relevant Board (legal entity, country and business division) inclusive of Credit Risk, Operational Risk, Market Risk and Asset Liability Management
Business Performance and Management – Internal Business Process
- Supervise the establishment of the Bank’s risk policies’ frameworks and procedures to support the stated business strategy and to meet regulatory requirements
- Oversee the planning and implementation of risk technology requirements to address both regulatory and business needs
- Provide accurate, timely and forward-looking risk reporting
People Management – Customer & Employee Engagement & Development
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior management, business unit heads and business support heads
- Ensure relationships are strategically forward-looking, highly-collaborative and productive
- Equip the first line of defense with the proper training and provide them with constructive challenges to better manage risks
- Oversee all aspects of the Bank’s second line of defense risk management functions and ensures effective implementation of the Group Enterprise-Wide Risk Management framework
- Embody the Bank’s culture of excellence and integrity by introducing, promoting and constantly innovating best practices for risk management
Regulatory Compliance
- Keep constantly abreast of market and regulatory developments that impact the Group's risk profile and capital levels and make recommendations for suitable changes as required
- Align effective risk governance to regulatory requirements and business needs
- Ensure compliance with all banking laws, regulations, and internal policies and procedures as related to the role
- Play a primary role in addressing requirements of local regulators with respect to risk matters of the Group
Minimum Qualifications
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Accountancy or Any Business Related Courses; Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field of study is preferred
- Minimum 15 years of experience in risk management.
- Minimum 8 years of experience as a Senior Risk Leader or Head of Risk within a large bank, financial institution, securities firm, or insurance house.
- 10+ years of managing managers; mentoring and leading teams, coaching and performance management
- 7+ years of business continuity or crisis management experience – including strategic planning, implementation, execution, and maintenance
- Strong knowledge of risk assessment methodologies
- Solid understanding of industry-recognized Business Continuity and Crisis Management standards/guidance
- Hands-on experience managing companies and leaders through crisis incidents
- Experience in the creation, execution, and implementation of Crisis, Continuity and Emergency Response Planning
- Experience in the creation, execution, and implementation of Vendor Management processes
- Experience in conducting physical emergency preparedness exercises
- Experience in translating legal or contractual requirements into technical controls
- Experience with audit processes and methodologies
- Expertise in providing solutions and recommendations based on internal and external factors
- Experience in providing technical expertise appropriate to knowledge of risk and cost-effective delivery of essential security services
- Experience in working at banks and financial services
