Shared Services Accountant - AP  

Over the past years, Canva has experienced one of the most radical growth trajectories Australia’s startup sector has seen. Canva’s team is now ~800 strong globally and its platform is used by people all around the world.

As Canva continues on this exciting period of growth, it has become inevitable to have an additional headcount to assist in the accounts payable functions as part of the Shared Services team in Manila that supports Canva Global Group.

You will have experience with accounts payable, transactional bookkeeping and accounting in a commercial environment, exhibit high attention to detail, thrive on achieving target service level agreements and an aptitude for using systems and technologies used to carry out various tasks. You will work closely to support the Sydney head office finance team, directly reporting to the Shared Services Team Lead based in the Philippines.

We’re a fast-moving business so change is frequent and volumes will continue to grow, you’ll be comfortable working in a hands-on environment and have excellent communication skills.

Your core responsibilities

• Supplier Payment processing – Day-to-day processing and coding of invoices across the Entities; Process authorized credit notes; Distribution of Invoices for Approval; Preparation of EFT payment run, ensuring that payments are scheduled for release dates; Preparation and processing of ad hoc payments; Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date
• Vendor Management – Deal with enquiries from suppliers on payments; Vendor statement reconciliations; Maintenance of Vendor Masterfile; Assist procurement officers with any credit applications
• Reimbursements – Process expense reimbursement & payments; Deal with any reimbursement status/queries from employees
• Reconciliation – Reconcile AP and reimbursement related GL accounts; Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues; Assist with month end closing, including preparation of invoice accruals
• Reporting – Preparing analyses of aged accounts payable and input to management reportsInternal
• Other responsibilities – Partner with the wider finance team and business units to achieve their objectives, including the setting of relevant metrics / SLAs of the Shared Services function and ensuring they are met consistently; Assistance with year-end audit activities where necessary

You would love this role if you have...

• A Bachelor’s/College Degree in Finance/Accountancy or equivalent
• A CPA or equivalent accounting qualification is an advantage
• 1-3+ years knowledge and experience in accounts payable transactional processing and related month-end processes and adjustments
• Experience with NetSuite Oneworld is highly desirable, given a critical part of this role
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
• Keen eye for details and the ability to identify and correct errors in processing
• Highly organised with the ability to work within set deadlines
• Advanced Excel skills are desirable
