About the team

The finance team’s mission is to protect and serve Canva and its stakeholders - that is protecting the organisation from external pressures and risks whilst balancing the need to best serve our teams and supporting their goals and building a world-class finance team.

In 2018, we have launched a Shared Services Team in Manila which is responsible for handling all transactional processes for the Global Canva Group of Companies and supporting the HQ office based in Sydney.

We are looking for a Treasury Accountant who will be responsible for transactional bookkeeping and accounting duties with experience in a commercial environment. We’re looking for someone with high attention to detail, thrives on achieving target service level agreement and has a high aptitude for using the latest systems and technology.

The Treasury Accountant will work closely with the team in Manila to support the Sydney head office finance team, directly reporting to the Shared Services Team Lead based in the Philippines with support from the Head of Finance (Manila).

Your role:

Reporting to the Shared Services Team Lead, the core responsibilities of the role include:

Transaction Matching

  • You will be the primary contact responsible for timely reconciliations of global Canva group of companies and other affiliated bank accounts with general ledger. This will involve reconciliation of critical bank accounts on a daily basis, accounts with cyclical activity on a fortnightly basis and reconciliation of low-risk accounts at month end with assistance from other team members.
  • You will communicate all receipts, payment bounce backs or irregular transactions to the relevant stakeholders on a daily basis.

Cash Monitoring & Reporting

  • Monitor bank accounts and credit card balances to ensure that sufficient funds are within the account
  • Daily follow up of any outstanding cash transactions or queries for resolution.
  • Prepare weekly cash flow reports and assist with monthly management cash flow reporting.
  • Provide assistance on cashflow forecasting when needed.

General Ledger & Reconciliation

  • You will be the primary owner of monthly balance sheet reconciliations reports for treasury related accounts
  • Ensure all suspense bookings are resolved promptly adhering to service level agreements and process.

Other responsibilities:

  • Maintain Canva’s Term Deposit Register and recognise any interest received accrued.
  • Timely administration of banking and merchant facilities.
  • Assist with any transaction or balance queries requested by auditors or the finance team.
  • Coordinate with Accounts Payable regarding documentation of payment requests and urgent of payments
  • Assist with credit card reconciliations and policy compliance.
  • Assist with other ad hoc transactional and reporting activities within the shared services team




Minimum Qualifications

About you:

You have a keen eye for detail, you enjoy upholding high standards of excellence in the services you deliver. Operating in a fast-paced environment, you are able to adapt quickly; able to manage team workloads and meet deadlines with support.

Your excellent communication skills and approach to tasks with a constant lens of customer service and continuous improvement will be your key to success in this role.


Also, we’d love it if you had:

  • A Bachelor’s/College Degree in Finance/Accountancy or equivalent.
  • A CPA or equivalent accounting qualification is an advantage.
  • 2-3+ years of knowledge and experience in transactional processing and related month-end processes and adjustments.
  • Experience with NetSuite Oneworld is highly desirable, given a critical part of this role.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A keen eye for detail and the ability to identify and correct errors in processing.
  • Highly organised with the ability to work within set deadlines.
  • Advanced Excel skills are desirable.
