Job Description
The Projects and Partnership Development Manager supports Build Change’s programs throughout the project management cycle, including project planning, proposal development, project implementation and report writing. Specifically, s/he leads on fund and partnership development activities, oversees Build Change’s non-technical program activities, and represents Build Change with current and prospective donors and partners. This is a supervisory role that works in close coordination with Build Change’s technical team and Country Director, and may require occasional travel outside Metro Manila. This position reports to the Philippines Country Director.
Responsibilities
Fund Development (40-50%)
- With support from the Philippines Country Director, perform grant and award research, donor cultivation and positioning, project planning and proposal writing for unrestricted and program funding. Within the first year, the Projects and Partnership Development Manager is expected to:
- Secure at least USD $600k in grants or contracts.
- Develop at least one major funded partnership ($200k +) with corporations, governments, multi-laterals, or NGOs for the pre-disaster retrofit program.
- Research, cultivate and position for multi-year, high six-figure level support to scale the pre-disaster retrofit program.
- Work with the Philippines Country Director to build relationships with prospective partners and clients and market Build Change’s services.
- Prepare and submit fund development partnership tracking reports to the Philippines Country Director and Build Change headquarters.
Projects Coordination (40%)
- Supervise Build Change’s Community Mobilization team, ensuring their professional, proper and effective implementation of project work plans.
- Maintain ownership of non-technical project milestones; liaise with Build Change’s technical team for cohesive program delivery.
- Contribute to the development of work plans; maintain flexibility to adapt activities as needed to achieve results.
- Capture learnings from project activities and maintain ownership over documentation of non-technical project activities.
- Coordinate with community organizations, local governments, partner organizations, and homeowners/families as needed.
- Maintain ownership of impact monitoring for non-technical program activities.
- Work closely with the program management team to produce on-time, high-quality grant and progress reports.
Partnership Development (10-20%)
- Advocate for Build Change’s strategic priorities and interests with governments, multilateral agencies, funders and partners.
- Represent Build Change in networks and meetings; attend and present at conferences and workshops.
- Use and regularly update Salesforce and other donor databases and marketing tools.
- Work with headquarters to develop success stories, promotional videos, and other fund and partnership development collateral.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible, related fund development, project management, and supervision experience.
- Professional experience in proposal writing with proven-record of winning grants and contracts and exceeding fundraising or business development goals. Proven ability to organize and present information in a compelling way.
- Outstanding, outgoing interpersonal skills, high energy level, and ability to speak persuasively in front of large and small groups.
- Demonstrated project management experience, including proficiency using tools such as logframes and Gantt charts.
- Demonstrated experience in community/participatory-based processes, experience with human-centered design is a plus.
- Understanding of the relevant government, private and non-profit sector organizations active in the housing, schools and disaster risk reduction sectors in the Philippines is a strong plus.
- Superior professional writing, presentation, and communication skills in English and Tagalog.
- Ability to work independently, willingness to work some evenings and weekends and travel.
- No ego, drama, or pessimism; the successful candidate will be flexible, humble, patient, and have a good sense of humor.
