Senior Linux Systems Engineer | RHEL, Centos  

Job purpose

The Systems Linux Engineer role is to ensure the stable operation of the production infrastructure systems. This includes maintaining, supporting and optimizing key functional areas, including, server infrastructure, virtualization, automation and data communications.

The Systems Engineer will also schedule and direct activities to resolve hardware and software problems according to SLAs and execute projects under the supervision of the central IT department in Manila.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

• Maintain development infrastructure environment and operations:
  • Maintain Servers, and Virtual Infrastructure.
  • Maintain corporate and production web systems based on RHEL, and Centos 6.x and 7.x.
  • Deploy new software, hardware, and back-end systems.
  • On call and out of hours work as necessary to maintain the availability and accessibility of the infrastructure.

• Participate in various infrastructure projects.
  • Work within project framework in order to achieve goals.
  • Implement solutions to ensure infrastructure capacity meets existing and future requirements.
  • Report on activities to the Systems and Project Managers.

• Knowledge & Skills
  • Day to day management and build of Linux systems based on Centos and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.x and 7.x.
  • Configuration and support for Apache and nginx web services, with PHP plugins.
  • Working systems knowledge of Drupal CMS, JIRA, and Git.
  • Working knowledge of Ansible or other automation tool.
  • Centralized Linux management and authentication, using LDAP or MS AD.
  • Performing Linux patching using a centralised system like spacewalk.
  • VMware ESXi management and troubleshooting.

Desirable Knowledge & Skills;

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the related field
• Familiarity with:
  • Commvault Sympana backup software.
  • NetApp SAN and EMC SAN technologies
  • backup systems and processes.
  • Linux LVS technology.
• Working knowledge of HP DL servers and BL Blade hardware.
• Basic knowledge of Windows and MySql
• Fluent in English
