CAD Operator | Central Facilities Management Office  

Summary of Work Activities and Responsibilities:

Under the Supervision of the Head of the Campus Development and Construction Group, the Draftsman is responsible for providing technical assistance in the preparation of project planning documents for various construction works in the campus. He is responsible in drafting technical drawings, plans, and details as per set design specifications, quality standards, and regulatory codes.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

I. Facilities Planning and Design

• Prepares bid documents for Architectural, Civil, and other related disciplines required by a project
• Prepares detailed construction drawings for projects as per feedback from the project team.
• Prepares sketches/plans and technical specifications

II. Facilities Documentation

• Assists in the evaluation and checking of submitted as-built plans.
• Assists in the preparation and regular update of as-built plans of all University campus buildings.
• Assists monitoring, cataloguing, compiling, labeling, and safekeeping of all as-built drawings, schematics and other construction project documents.

III. Administrative

• Contributes in establishing a strong team of dedicated individual with full understanding of and commitment to the requirements of the section, unit, and the university.
• Assists in ensuring administration of contracts and projects needed in the performance of the group’s mandate and the delivery of services.
• Assists in ensuring the group’s compliance to university policies and procedures.
• Assists in ensuring the group’s compliance to public policies and campus compliance to sustainability program

IV. Others

• May be given role in other projects/activities which are mission critical to the unit or the university.
• Performs other duties as may be required from the position, in accordance with the instructions of the Campus Development and Construction Group Head.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Technical Skills — Ability to interpret and execute Architectural and Structural concepts and building systems. Knowledgeable in schematic design development and freehand sketches/drawings using CADD and other drawing/drafting/rendering software.
• Organization and Prioritization of Work— Ability to effectively plan and coordinate the delivery of required outcomes, according to importance and urgency; keen to details
• Quality Perspective — Ability to assess the value, quality and importance of responsibilities, services, supplies and human resources; attending to details and standards while keeping in mind relevance and contribution to overall achievement of goals
• Coordination Skills — Ability to proactively coordinate, mediate, and manage actions in relation to others
• Communication Skills — Ability to utilize different media directed at different audiences/stakeholders

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Graduate of Drafting and Design Technology course
• At least three (3) years exposure and continuous technical experience in architectural, interior and structural design and construction
