Job Description

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Director of the Office of Student Activities of the Loyola Schools, the Student Affairs Professional oversees the leadership formation of student leaders and development of accredited student organization in the Loyola Schools.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

I. Formation of the Student Leaders’ Leadership Competence

  • Designs, maps out, implements, and evaluates leadership development programs, activities, and modules, which are inspired by the Ignatian tradition of service and excellence
  • Monitors, and documents, the development and progress of student leaders
  • Coordinates with potential providers, whether within the University or outside, who may aid in the conduct of leadership development programs for student leaders
  • Coaches and mentors student leaders in managing and developing their student organizations
  • Keeps abreast of, and researches on, relevant student leadership formation trends and frameworks

II. Development of Student Leaders’ Management Competence

  • Coaches, mentors, advises and/or guides student leaders plan, organize, implement, and evaluate the programs and activities of their student organizations
  • Coaches and mentors student leaders on how to plan for and develop a dynamic and innovative student organization
  • Advises and guides student leaders on how to enhance the kind of culture and values they want for their student organizations, manage possible changes, and develop interventions and evaluation systems that would encourage membership engagement.
  • Monitors the plans, goals, and programs of the assigned student organizations, ensuring its alignment with the University and Loyola Schools’ mission, vision, and values, and compliant with set standards, policies and guidelines
  • Monitors the implementation and execution of planned activities and projects of the student organizations to ensure its alignment with the core values to be ascribed, and compliance with contractual obligations
    • Assesses and decides on submitted documents (e.g., project proposals and budget requests and liquidations) by the student organizations
  • Monitors the performance of assigned student organizations, and leads the appropriate interventions that would ensure they are able to perform effectively and efficiently, and that resources are optimized
  • Cultivates and manages partnerships with faculty, alumni, and other possible networks that may enrich student activities

III. Administration Support to the Office

  • Prepares and contributes to the development of reports and internal communications
  • Manages designated Coordinatorship deemed necessary by the LS OSA Director
  • Serves as liaison to appropriate partners and networks and provide assistance and collaboration, where appropriate
  • Serves on University committees representing the LS Office of Student Activities
  • Collaborates with students, staff, and departments to enhance the quality of student activities in the Loyola Schools

IV. Performs other related tasks assigned by the Director of the Office of Student Activities, Loyola Schools

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s Degree
  2. Experience working with student leaders and student organizations
  3. Experience as a Student Leader is preferred
  4. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of Ignatian Spirituality and Traditions
  • Knowledge of research methodologies and data analysis
  • Knowledge of leadership development frameworks and practices
  • Knowledge of project management cycle
  • Knowledge of organization management and development
  • Skills in public speaking
  • Skills in business communication (verbal or written)
  • Ability to manage and process interpersonal and interdependent concerns
  • Ability to handle individual consultation and facilitate group discussions
  • Ability to design effective learning programs and modules
  • Ability to oversee and organize multiple activities and events
  • Ability to work productively under pressure and adapt to changing contexts
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to navigate and manage social media
  • Ability to navigate around technology
