Job Description

The Quality Assurance Management and Compliance Head set up systems and processes that will enable SQMO to track where the different units are in terms of the university strategic goals and key indices for quality assurance processes, including accreditation. It monitors the achievement of strategic University targets and the adherence/compliance to established quality standards, and provides inputs based on concrete data.

  • Designs, develops, and implements a University qualifications framework and system by coordinating and aligning quality assurance efforts of units
    • Coordinates efforts with units to undertake initiatives and/or projects that will allow for greater socialization and/or integration of quality assurance initiatives into university consciousness
    • Assists units in the identification of key indicators and development of performance targets in order to achieve University strategic goals, internal quality management standards, rankings, and accreditation aspirations
    • Conducts validation exercises to determine the reliability and applicability of the quality frameworks
    • Gathers and analyzes data to identify possible areas for improvement in the University qualifications framework and quality systems
  • Leads in monitoring and evaluating the progress of each unit in terms of the key indicators and targets on a regular basis
    • Develops a tracking mechanism system and documentation procedure to monitor the performance of each unit vis-à-vis targets for each indicator
    • Initiates conversations with the units regarding their performance on indicators to gain a deeper insight into areas of successes and difficulties and where appropriate, aid in identifying challenges and possible solutions
    • Collaborates with units in determining possible root causes, which contributed to the non-achievement or compliance of any area, and coming up with corrective actions
    • Prepares documentation and reports on the progress of each unit in terms of key indicators and targets, including quality related reports, to both the units and the President (reports include corrective actions and re-assessments made, where necessary)
  • Keeps abreast of local and international accreditation trends, standards, and requirements, and serves as primary resource related to accreditation
    • Conducts learning sessions on accreditation standards and requirements
    • Collaborates with units in designing an accreditation implementation plan in support of the University’s accreditation agenda and aspirations, and making improvements or changes based such trends, standards, and requirements.
    • Assists units in the accreditation processes, providing data and/or materials as appropriate that may be required from Central Administration and preparing administrators for interviews and exhibits relating to quality management
  • Establishes and sustains strong partnerships with accreditation bodies and other institutions for potential benchmarking opportunities
    • Represents the University in networking endeavors related to accreditation and benchmarking
  • Oversees the preparation and submission of University data for local and world rankings
  • Performs other tasks that may be assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Has a post-graduate or professional degree in management and/or education
  • At least 5 years managerial work experience in quality management (from framework development to inspection to finding root causes to working with units on how to improve the quality)
  • Experience in database construction and management, specifying user requirements
  • Deep knowledge of how the academe works is an advantage
