Job Description
- Performs server related installation tasks- installation of operating systems, raid configuration, installation of application components (e.g. Java, Apache, IIS, Bea).
- Perform server related configuration and management tasks – users, file systems, kernel settings, network.
- Performs server hardening to secure the systems from work known risks and vulnerabilities.
- Defines and perform server backups and recovery problems.
- Coordinates regularly with members of other support teams.
- Provides 24/7 database support (handling incidents, migration, server tuning and maintenance, including on-call, onsite support when needed).
- Addresses non-compliance and escalates issues as needed to the application/system owners (vendor, developers, etc.) and cluster head.
- Recommends and executes modifications to server environment in order to improve efficiency, reliability and performance.
- Communicates needed changes to the Cluster Head and application owners.
- Proactively monitors server environment for optimum performance.
- Plans and implements server and application upgrades, maintenance fixes, and vendor-supplied patches.
- Works closely with Database Administrators to configure software and hardware so that it functions optimally.
- Performs server upgrades and patch installation on production servers; provides onsite support during these activities.
- Complies with all operational standards and other requirements as defined in the ISOD standards.
- Reviews and prepares system documentation.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience using AWS for at least 1-2 years.
- Strong grasp of fundamental operating system concepts.
- Solid understanding on setup, configuration and management on different operating systems (HP – UX, AIX, Solaris, Linux, Windows, Virtual Machines).
- Strong analytical and planning skills.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
