Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Organizes and reviews projects’ financial requisitions and submits them to the Finance Manager for review;
  • Maintains the financial management system and ensures that the day-to-day financial requirements of the operations are met;
  • Reviews liquidation reports submitted by staff and recommends approval/disapproval of check vouchers;
  • Flags finance-related issues, such as implications of foreign exchange rate fluctuations, over-expenditure or under-expenditure on specific budget lines and forward recommendations to address said issues;
  • Performs monthly analysis of the assigned project’s electronic book of accounts and ledgers;
  • Ensures efficient financial management for the projects assigned to him/her;
    1. Works closely with the Finance Director in formulating policies with regard to financial operations and recommends other policies that will ensure effective and efficient delivery of ACCORD’s services and the overall achievement of its goals.
    2. Ensures ACCORD’s accounting policies, books and chart of accounts are consistent and aligned with the accounting systems and policies of the donors
  • Ensures that all project funds are properly administered and monitored, and standard procedures and controls are consistently applied;
  • Monitors fund status and recommends request for fund transfer from donors;
  • Reviews financial reports submitted by partners;
  • Generates consolidated financial report every two (2) months for the project/s assigned to him/her;
  • Generates burn rate report every two (2) months to inform over- or under-expenditure;
  • Manages the preparation of budget plans and fund allocation for projects assigned to him/her, including new ones, with technical guidance from the Finance Manager and Project Manager;
  • Participates in other disaster risk management activities that the organisation may elect to be involved in; and
  • Performs other tasks that may be assigned from time to time.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or other related courses;
  • Minimum of three years working as a Finance Officer, with extensive experience in accounting, treasury, fund management and financial report preparation in an NGO setting;
  • Commitment to accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Has good written and oral communication skills;
  • Able to relate to people at all levels internally and externally;
  • Able to plan, balance and cope with multiple and competing priorities;
  • Can work independently without constant supervision and can work as well with a team;
  • Has the readiness and open-mindedness to work in a dynamic environment;
  • Ability to work under pressure without compromising the quality of work;
  • Passionate about contributing to poverty alleviation and helping vulnerable communities
