Job Description

The Claims and Collection Officer is responsible for the end-to-end process of handling any insurance claim from beginning to settlement. He/she is tasked to manage and guide the account/client in the process as well as to perform collection on delinquent accounts.

I. Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Receives, examines, records, and processes all incoming insurance claims from all accounts.
    • Ensures that policy requirements are fulfilled and appropriate forms are completed for endorsement.
  • Interprets basic policy coverage and determines if coverage applies to claims submitted.
  • Arranges settlement of claims made by the clients through their policies.
  • Assists and attends to all clients’ inquiries in reference to their claims concerns.
  • Assess and decides on the extent and validity of the claims by interviewing the clients or their representatives to obtain accurate evidences.
  • Ensures timely issuance of disbursements or payments to the client.
  • Identifies and resolves any issue and/or anomalies that are non-compliant with regards to policies and procedure.
    • Determines and investigates any suspicious or potentially fraudulent claims.
  • Liaises with external experts such as Loss Adjusters and Legal Counsels if the incident involves loss adjusting activities (investigating the loss) or any legal discussions about recovery of any sum of money from the party responsible for the loss.
  • Assists the company and its affiliates with their clients’ insurance claims.
  • Prepares the Daily Collection Report (DCR) which summarizes all collections made during the day and submits to the Department Head and to the Accounting-In-Charge.
  • Prepares the Collection Summary Report and the Claims Report on a monthly basis and submits the same to the Department Head.
  • Performs various collection actions such as doing fieldwork, calls including the seizure, and sale of unsecured personal property to settle accounts.
  • Compiles and evaluates information needed to collect delinquent accounts.
  • Recommends and initiates legal proceedings on enforcement actions.
  • Performs other administrative tasks that may be assigned from time to time or as the business may require.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate of Business Management, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Marketing, or any business related course.
  • Passed basic licensure exams issued by the Insurance Commission such as GA (General Agent) for Non-life insurance.
  • Gained at least two (2) years of related working experience in the same capacity.
  • Well-versed with the Insurance Commission procedures, policy coverage, and claims documentation.
  • Knowledgeable in insurance basic policy coverage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Attentive to details, proactive, highly organized, highly analytical, and adaptable.
