Project Oto Concept Sheet Description “Oto” is an audio speakeasy cafe.

We will have delicious food. We will have lovely drinks. And we will have an absolutely sublime sound system. Insight That people love music as much as they love food and drinks. Most of the cafes in Metro Manila provide music. But most of it is done as an afterthought. They spend a great amount of time developing delicious menus and lovely interiors and cool artisanal drinks, yet leave the music too loud, or too soft. Or leave the room badly treated. Or simply have a bad music playlist.

Just like the Dolby ads in Atmos theatres, we argue that there is another dimension that customers don’t realize they’re missing out on. We argue that the dimension of audiophile­quality audio can augment and complete the cafe experience.

OTO is located at the ground floor of 5880 Enriquez Apartment in Makati Brgy. Poblacion We will be designing a space about 100 square meters in size. This will be acoustically treated, to be done via a collaboration between a professional acoustician and a design firm, to ensure that the space is well­planned, beautiful and most of all, fantastic sounding. The space will contain a kitchen, a bar area and a restroom. The main area will contain a number of cozy tables, chairs and couches. And it will have one focal point: the sound system. The sound system will be an audiophile­quality mid­level setup.

The kitchen will serve a number of dishes ranging from meat main courses to sandwiches. It will not be a full­size menu. Just a limited number of dishes that is specially designed to be enjoyed with the music. We will be serving espresso­based and pour­over coffee at the bar, as well as a number of custom cocktails. Beer sourced from local craft breweries will also be available.. The music will be curated on a day­to­day basis. The cafe will hold events on certain nights. Proposed events are as follows:

1. An Album A Week ­ Once per week, we will hold a listening session for newly released vinyl albums.

2. Theme nights ­ Shoegaze nights, Bebop nights, Afropop nights, and more.

3. Weekly roundtable ­ We invite customers to recommend albums to add to our growing collection.
