RESPONSIBILITIES
Identifies and covers news stories according to the beat assigned by the NewsDesk. The jobholder will be expected to deliver live and VO reports including breaking news or flash reports on radio and contribute news updates to various platforms.
I. News Integration
a. Pitches daily stories for inclusion in the daily news conference of central news desk.
b. Delivers live reports and/or VO packages to various platforms.
c. Shoots stills and videos and transmit materials for use of various platforms
d. Establish social media presence by delivering news and updates on Twitter, DZMMTeleradyo.com.ph, and ABS-CBNNEWS.com
II. News Gathering
a. Plans daily to ensure comprehensive news reporting.
b. Participates in major news coverage and station-initiated projects and events.
c. Maintains a strong network of news sources in govrnment, NGOs, private organizations and various movements to ensure delivery of breaking or developing stories ahead of conpetition.
d. Write news stories and ensures accuracy of facts and ensures proper angling and storytelling.
e. Ensures strict adherence to the company Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct.
III. Administrative
a. Ensures timely submission of liquidation for cash advances and compliance to other HR and other administrative requirements.
b. Performs other related duties as necessary
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate of Mass Communication, Communication Arts, Journalism, or any related courses.
- At least 3 years' work experience as a writer or in a newsroom.
- Should be adept in the use of Social Media.
- Photography and videography experience is a must.
- Able to determine appropriate story angle and generate news report independently.
- Experience in building and managing strong relationship with stakeholders, especially with news sources.
- Quick, flexible, and adaptable, especially in the face of breaking news and special news coverage.
- Able to effectively deal with people from all levels in the organization.
- Willing to work on extended shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overnight.
- Willing to be assigned in out of town coverages
- Excellent written and oral communication primarily in Filipino.
- Should be able to report or write using the English language.
