Editorial Associate l DZMM | Integrated News and Current Affairs | For pooling  

An Editorial Associate is responsible for conducting extensive background research on assigned topics and the production and timely delivery of research material requirements of various programs. He/She establishes and builds a network of reliable sources and provides suitable resource speakers based on program requirements.

He/she is also expected to provide assistance in planning and setting of news and CA agenda of the station’s various programs and in the production of on-air segments, campaigns and support materials for the station’s special projects and official entries for award-giving bodies. He/she works closely with the Head of Research and Editorial in conducting in-depth research on assigned topics based on the aligned and set agenda for Futures.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Research:

1. Responsible for conducting extensive background research on assigned topics and the production and timely delivery of research material requirements of various programs
   • Coordinates with Executive Producers and anchors during story conferences, and provides recommendations on possible issues and topics for the program and recommends strategies to further improve program content as needed.
   • Collects, verifies and prepares all necessary information including but not limited to related news items, articles, statistics, fast facts, case studies, pertinent audio and video materials among others to be used as daily topic guides and background materials during regular programs, special coverages and program specials for anchors
   • Writes opening and closing billboards (OBB & CBB) for plugs, segments, stingers, program teasers and spearheads the technical production of the same materials
   • Writes and produces special reports and documentaries on various issues and conducts field work, as necessary to gather information, take photographs and record audio or video materials.
2. Establishes and builds a network of reliable sources and provides suitable resource speakers based on program requirements.
   • Identifies, recommends and coordinates with suitable resource speaker for a live studio guesting or phone patch interviews based on the requirements of a specific program
   • Conducts preliminary interviews to be used as backgrounders/information sheet for anchors
   • Performs fieldwork to assist anchors, reporters and/or the TeleRadyo team in arranging interviews during special coverages and special events
   • Coordinates with the anchors on the topics that would be discussed and arranges interview based on agreed requirements in the absence of the Executive Producer

Futures:

1. Provides assistance in planning and setting of news and CA agenda of the station’s various programs
   • Pitches in newsworthy stories during story conferences or to program heads that can be utilized by various programs
   • As needed, recommends strategies to improve program content as per market demand
2. Provides assistance in the production of on-air segments, campaigns and support materials for the station’s special projects and official entries for award-giving bodies
3. Produces segment materials such as background information, pertinent graphics, audio and video clips that would be aired in both DZMM and TeleRadyo
4. Provides assistance in the production and completion of the station’s official entries for local and international award-giving bodies
   • Provides assistance in conducting in-depth research on assigned topics based on the aligned and set agenda for Futures
   • Performs other related duties as necessary

• Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Business Administration, Business Management, Journalism or equivalent.
• At least 1-2 years work experience, but fresh graduates are encouraged to apply, preferably with any related experience.
