Transmission Field Technical Specialist  

The Transmission Field Technical Specialist is responsible for the operation and maintenance of contribution and transmission systems for the distribution of contents in various platforms (Analog and Digital TV and Radio) to ensure smooth signal flow from source to end clients. They also provide transmission services for newsgathering, production, foundation, special events, and other remote transmissions as needed by the clients.

The following are additional role responsibilities for the continuous airing of audio-video signals based on the Daily Operations Log (DOL):

• As Master Control Room: checking the quality of signals coming from the studio/remote/live
• As Payout Switcher: checking the correct sequences as scheduled on DOL
• As Ingest Operator: ensuring that all materials (file based or tape-based) are ingested properly
• As On-Air Scheduler: ensure that proper playlists are uploaded on different platforms correctly
• As On-Air Media Handler: ensure that all materials are properly tagged based on the asset code provided; provides timely feedback to clients

• Graduate of any technical course (Preferably Electronics and Communications Engineer / General Radio Communications Operator; preferably with a license)
• Has at least 1 (one) year relevant work experience in a broadcast facility
• Must be experienced in handling uplink earth station; operations and maintenance of the following equipment: satellite antenna systems tx/rx, LPA, MPA, KPA (transmitters/amplifiers), up/down converters, SCPC and MCPC compression systems (MPEG 2/4); network management system; broadcast equipment such as a/v processors, routers, and distribution amplifiers
• Must be literate in MS Office and has ample knowledge in handling Visio - knows and understand network diagrams, Powerpoint - should be able to conduct presentation both in technical and training, Excel - able to use tables and basic mathematical functions.
• Knowledgeable in TCP/IP and Networking of computers
• Must be able to operate measurement equipment and test equipment (such as spectrum analyzers, power meters, network analyzers, microwave analyzers, etc.)
• Must have at least basic knowledge on the proper handling of transmission facilities used for mobile uplink systems (antenna systems, transmitters/receivers, up/down converters, modulators, power amplifiers), portable microwave systems, telephone sets, fiber optics and terminals, and TCP/IP.
• Must possess basic know-how of how to handle broadcast and compression facilities used for newsgathering like audio/video processors, routers, distribution amplifier, encoders, decoders, modems, and the like
• Must be knowledgeable with the following:
  • Standard satellite antenna qualification procedures
  • Standard satellite booking procedures
  • Mobile uplink station set up and preliminary test procedure before transmission
  • Transponder loading and verification procedures
• Must be able to operate basic broadcast video and audio test and measurement equipment like vectorscope, waveform monitors, and audio meters
• Must be able to carry heavy loads of equipment/facility to and from any remote coverage
• Must be willing to work in rotating shifts and long/extended working hours (on-call or field-work)
• Must be willing to travel
