Job Description

INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE PROGRAM

  • Maintains records on noise level hazards present in the workplaces and identify controls to reduce or eliminate such.
  • Recommends continual workplace improvement and control measures.

CAPACITY BUILDING on OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH and SAFETY

  • Coordinates with HRQ regarding HSE orientation and training programs; monitors and evaluates effectiveness of training programs in coordination with the Company Nurse and Department Heads.
  • Conducts safety lectures/trainings to contractors (construction projects and subcontracted works) regarding hazards to which they are exposed and conduct familiarization of work environment.
  • Plans and implements the Annual Safety Competition in coordination with HRQ; assists DSHC in the conduct of first aid refresher courses prior to safety day.

HEALTH and SAFETY COMMITTEE

  • Supervises organization of CHSEC, election of DHSEC and formation of Emergency Action Teams (EAT) for all working areas in the company
  • Schedules and conducts monthly meetings for the CHSEC including preparation of the agenda and other related matters; takes minutes and disseminate results of meetings to the DHESC (if applicable).

ADMINISTRATIVE

  • Implements and enforces company rules and regulations including national, local and community laws pertaining to safety, health and security issues that may from time to time be prescribed.
  • Collates approved safety and health recommendations for incorporation in the Safety Manual.
  • Prepares Annual Budget for his department for incorporation in the admin budge
  • Updates the company safety manual when necessary
  • Prepares accomplishment reports to the SVP or VP for discussion during the CHSEC meeting; schedules and conducts monthly meetings for the HSC; prepares the agenda and other related matters and takes minutes and disseminates results of meetings to the DHSEC.

OTHER DUTIES

  • Conducts security audits, risk surveys, pre-employment screening and background checks, confidential reviews in sensitive areas (Embezzlements, Kickbacks), training programs, executive protection needs, and emergency, contingency, or other planning efforts.
  • Coordinates special events and possess due diligence and asset search.
  • Evaluates equipment and design systems for litigation support in areas of safety.
  • Conforms to the company’s Quality, Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety and Information Security Management Systems policies, standards, procedures and guidelines based on ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 27001 Standards.
  • Reports occupational Health and Safety and Information Security events/incidents or potential events or other security risks to the organization.
  • Protects information assets from unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference.
  • Stores confidential data, forms, contracts, manuals, books and other documents to locked storage rooms/steel cabinets.
  • Stores safety equipment, gadgets and other devices to locked storage rooms/ steel cabinets
  • Creates contracts with information security clauses in conformance to Information Management Systems Policies and Guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications

Safety Supervisor acts as the employer’s principal assistant and consultant in the application of programs to eliminate hazards from the workplace and to correct unsafe work practices by initiating preventive and corrective actions, responsible for promoting the company’s safety and health programs.

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 yrs. of relevant experience in OSH; preferably an OSH Practitioner (accredited by the Bureau of Working Conditions – DOLE); one (1) year of directly related experience in security management.
  • Preferably with working experience in the power industry
  • Must have completed the 40-hour Basic Occupational Safety and Health Training Course as prescribed by the Bureau of Working Conditions;
  • Licensed Engineer preferably Electrical, Mechanical or Civil; or related courses
  • Strong analytical and planning skills
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
