Boiler | Turbine Operations Shift Supervisor  

Mission to Function:

• The Boiler /Turbine Operations Shift Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision and coordination of the Boiler and Turbine-Generator operations and related activities during an assigned shift following established work procedures as well as equipment, safety, and environmental parameters to ensure the safe, reliable, stable, and environmentally compliant generation of specified steam and power. This position’s area of responsibility covers boilers, turbine-generators, standby gen-set unit, cooling tower, and related auxiliaries.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plans, coordinates, and maintains work schedules and assignments of subordinates to ensure efficient Boiler/Turbine-Generator operations.
• Implements production requirements and evaluates current production output versus target as basis for planning and scheduling
• Oversees the work of subordinates to ensure that all plant equipment and machinery as well as the plant premises within the area of responsibility are properly operated, checked, monitored, and maintained according to standard operating procedures
• Ensures that company policies, standard operating procedures, and prescribed rules and regulations are properly understood and complied with
• Observes proper procedures for shift turn-over between outgoing and incoming Shift Supervisors to ensure smooth turn-over of responsibilities
• Maintains, reviews, verifies, analyzes, and evaluates reports and log sheet data on boiler/turbine-generator operations during a shift for information and appropriate action
• Determines the cause of any deviation from standard operating values observed in control room or on-site and takes immediate corrective measures through appropriate operations personnel to restore operations stability
• Recommends and/or implements approved measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency
• Coordinates with the Coal Handling Shift Supervisor on schedule of coal loading to silos to ensure that there is sufficient coal available for operation
• Coordinates with NGCP on Plant load dispatch
• Coordinates with Chemical Laboratory and Safety and Pollution Control personnel on water quality and environmental concerns
• Schedules and oversees minor repairs and routine maintenance of equipment and auxiliaries to avoid disruption of plant operations
• Ensures continuous compliance to environmental criteria to prevent adverse effects to Plant personnel and the environment
• Implements the Plant’s Crisis Management Plan during emergency to ensure the safety and security of personnel and Plant operations
• Performs other related tasks and functions that may be assigned from time to time by the Operations Manager

• Must be a licensed Mechanical or Electrical Engineer
• With at least 3 years experience in coal-fired power plant operations, 1 year of which in a supervisory role
• Has technical knowledge in Coal-Fired Power Plant Operations and Maintenance
• Knowledge and application of Safety and Environmental Laws and Regulations
• Able to interpret and analyze data and make recommendations to management
• Able to communicate well both in oral and written
• Excellent leadership, supervision, and interpersonal skills
• Proficient in MS Office
