Job Description

Position Summary:

The position is responsible for the execution of the activities in the Business Unit Risk Management Program providing overall risk-related support for all Business Unit sites and functions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports ERM Manager in Developing ERM Policies and Guidelines to BU.
  • Ensures review is done regularly and policies and procedures are updated as necessary
  • Acts as specific point of contact (SPOC) to escalate issues on risk management related programs and policies to steering committees.
  • Supervises the implementation of the Coal BU risk assessment and planning including process improvements across all sites.
  • Facilitates and works closely with the SPOCs and process owners in identifying, assessing and treating different risks and risk levels in various Business Units and ensures that proper risk management strategy is instituted to manage risks.
  • For Operational and Project Risks, provides guidance to Process Owners and Project Teams in identifying, assessing and treating different risks and risk levels in various Units and ensure that proper risk management strategy is instituted to manage risks.
  • Works closely with the Internal Audit and Business Process Management on the conduct of audits on the validation and effectiveness of Risk Treatments.
  • Performs ERM assurance function - thru post implementation reviews of risk treatments and identify learning points, provide analysis and communicate them to BU management.
  • Supports ERM Manager in implementing programs to build risk awareness culture in the organization.
  • Leads, promotes and maintains the accreditation to ISO 22301 in the Coal Business Unit.
  • Oversees implementation of the Business Continuity Management in the Coal BU.
  • Supports ERM Head and Coal BU and Site Management in the development of contingency and business continuity strategies.
  • Facilitates development of Coal BU and Site BC plans (BCP).
  • Facilitates develop testing plan for BU Business Continuity.
  • Leads and coordinates assurance and testing activities of BU BCPs.
  • Coordinates and supports Coal and Site BU in the activation and execution of BCPs.
  • Leads the maintenance, review and update of BU BCPs.
  • Supports the Strategy and Performance Manager and ERM Manager for risk related activities in the Strategic Planning process.
  • Supports ERM Manager, BPM Manager and other mgt system teams in - integrating Risk Management in Internal and External Processes and Management Systems (e.g. Incident Reporting, Safety, Security).
  • Supports ERM Manager in the review and submission of declaration and supporting information needed for the contract negotiation involving insurance, indemnity or maximum foreseeable loss assumptions or provisions prior to the execution of the contract.
  • Supports the ERM Manager in the analysis and periodically reviews all insurance policies and endorsements to ensure effective coverage of risks and consistency with risk transfer strategies.
  • Coordinates with AEV Risk Finance Team for periodic orientation on insurance covers and claims processes.
  • Works closely with the SPOCs and Process Owners in for the survey schedule and submission of the required documents for the risk engineering survey.
  • Reviews Risk Engineering Surveyors Report and discuss the RE recommendations with the SPOCs and Process Owners for comment and approval/compliance.
  • Reviews premium invoices, validates charges in accordance to the agreed rates, prepares the Request for Payment, routes for approval, and monitors payment.
  • Ensure that premiums and expenses are paid within the agreed credit terms in coordination with finance and/or accounting team on-time payment of RFPs and serves check payment to vendor/supplier.
  • Oversees the implementation and execution of the Incident Reporting Procedure.
  • Develops and performs programs to instill awareness on Incident Reporting culture in the organization.
  • Manages and administers loss and claim activities to maximize recoveries from insurers and facilitate the payment of the claims.
  • Analyzes circumstances of loss and prepares loss evaluation reports with claim recommendations for management approval and endorsement to AEV Risk Finance Team.
  • Prepares periodic loss reports to management and AEV Risk Finance Team.
  • Lead Tier 1 or Tier 2 project requiring general management skills and cross-functional collaboration.
  1. Coordinates across all groups to facilitate the delivery of major project related activities across the Coal Business Unit.
  2. Promotes and implements good, disciplined, sound project management techniques.
  3. Manages a project, coordinating, and supporting teams:
  4. Developing and maintaining a detailed project plan
  5. Managing project deliverables in line with the project plan
  6. Recording and managing project issues and escalating where necessary
  7. Managing project scope and change control and escalating issues where necessary
  • Reports and tracks progress of projects and prompt senior management interventions and support, as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Preferably Registered Engineer
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in risk management of power industry or related fields
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience
  • At least one time experience in project management
  • Relevant Risk Management, Insurance or Business Continuity Management certification/trainings
