Job Description

Will be responsible for monitoring assigned project areas and making sure that all civil work activities are governed by applicable specifications and codes, and also ensures effective communication and coordination on assigned projects between all disciplines and all other project participants.

  • Maintains permanent points for linear and datum control. Conveys this information to the contractor to enable them to accurately site out their works, check contractor setting out, leveling and checks drawings and quantities and ensure the accuracy of calculations
  • Conducts surveys of the site/completed works to record as-built conditions
  • Responsible for checking and keeping records of delivered material, to ensure all materials used on site are in line with the specification
  • Assists in the planning and sequencing of the construction operations and ensuring projects meet agreed specifications, budgets or timescales
  • Oversees the construction materials delivered on construction activity site if such conforms to specifications and standards are adhered to
  • Ensures that the scheduled and planned work will be done and if technical or any other problems crop up, the site supervisor will resolve and make sure that the construction manager was informed
  • Checks the plans, drawings and calculations to ensure the entire project has been laid out
  • Works actively with the contractor and project management teams to understand project objectives and priorities and to meet project objectives with regard to safety, cost control and schedule
  • Assists the QA/QC Engineer by enforcing quality control, expediting contractors and performing destructive and nondestructive tests on metals and other materials through magnaflux, dye-penetrant, radiographic, tension and compression, paint thickness, and resistivity
  • Ensures that the details included in the installation procedures are fully understood and properly applied by the contractor and that all project preparation is in order
  • Reviews project planning with a view to improve on the completion date, if possible, during implementation
  • Provide technical engineering information and interpretation of plans, detail sheets and specifications for contractors
  • Records and maintains a drawing register to check if the plans and drawing being used by the contractor is the recent GFC release
  • Assist in coordinating preparation of field documents
  • Record daily progress (Tracking) and Update site diary with comprehensive detail daily
  • Coordinates with the Documents Controller regarding the release of construction drawings
  • Submits weekly and monthly project status reports and change orders
  • Ensures that work under their control is carried out safely and without risks to health
  • Comply with requirements outlined in the environmental management plan
  • Report to Project Management Team on contractor’s performances and project issues and generate reports as required
  • Oversees field activities and provides daily updates to Project Management Team Engineer on work progress
  • Reviews and monitors planned schedules against actual work progress. Develops action plan with contractor’s management team to address slippage in schedule and report/update status to Project Management Team
  • Coordinates inspections with the QA/QC Engineer and the contractor and authorities as required by the contract
  • Inspects false work for conformance to design drawings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree holder in Engineering
  • Must be a Licensed Civil Engineer
  • Preferably with related work experience/project experience
  • Technically capable and with unparalleled perseverance
  • With excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project)
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D and StaadPro software
