Coal Handling & Chemical Laboratory Superintendent | Toledo, Cebu  

Overall responsible for the direct supervision and coordination of field, plant, laboratory, and environmental analysis and tests following established work, equipment, safety, and environmental parameters, to assure the safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally compatible Plant operations.

• Plan, coordinate, and maintain work schedules and assignments of subordinates to ensure smooth laboratory operations.
• Monitor personnel work activities, handling any procedural or technical problems that may arise, to ensure effective laboratory operations.
• Plan, schedule, and monitor the collection and analysis of relevant samples for testing, ensuring that all compliance sampling and testing are completed by procedure and within compliance regulations.
• Implement programs and procedures for quality control and monitoring of statutory regulatory compliance.
• Train subordinates as needed to ensure effective and efficient operations in his/her area of responsibility.
• Ensure that all laboratory equipment and instrumentation, online monitoring equipment are properly working by establishing corrective and preventive maintenance works.
• Supervise the preparation and maintenance of records, reports, graphs, and logs in accordance with company or regulatory agency requirements for reference, control, and compliance.
• Conduct relevant studies and make reports and recommendations for design or process changes.
• Review data and reports, and evaluate the performance of water and wastewater treatment systems, including chemical treatment programs for Plant systems such as condenser, cooling water, etc, to ensure that water chemistry conditions are within operating guidelines.
• Review data and reports, monitor, and evaluate Boiler and Turbine-Generator operations as well as Coal Handling operations to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, permit requirements, commitments, and company environmental procedures.
• Takes the necessary action plans to address operational non-compliance issues that are within the approved operational standards.
• Recommends action plans to non-compliance issues with respect to statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Communicate the results and implications of monitoring activities to relevant parties, making recommendations for remedial action as needed.
• Recommends Unit’s budget, and monitor and control expenditures to make sure that costs remain within the approved budget.
• Monitor the work performance of subordinate s and prepare and submit performance appraisal reports to identify their strengths and weaknesses and make recommendations for training.
• Enforce safety rules and use of applicable safety equipment to prevent accidents and occupational illness.
• Ensure continuous compliance to environmental criteria to prevent adverse effects to Plant personnel and the environment.
• Lead all personnel in maintaining applicable cleanliness and sanitation standards, including 5S practices, inside the Plant.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
• At least 3 years in a supervisory role
• 3 years experience in a power generation plant or industrial plant as a Chemist with supervisory exposure
