Job Description

  • Provides physical, strategic, and technical support to the Thermal BU in securing and maintaining permits and licenses, as well as in filings and submissions of reports to different government agencies and local government units having jurisdiction over the concerned BU site.
  • The position supports the Compliance Supervisor/Manager in contract and case management. The position acts as the primary POC between the BU and the CSUs vis-a-vis commercial contract management from preparation to execution (AS, BCQ, PSA, ESA).
  • The position handles and strategically resolves compliance and legal issues escalated/raised by other Thermal BU departments and CSUs, subject to the Compliance Supervisor/Manager’s clearance.
  • The position provides support to the Compliance Supervisor/Manager in crafting roll out plans for the BU with respect to new/changing laws and regulations.
  • Secure copies of legal requirements from regulatory agencies, affiliate organizations, and special interest groups
  • Identify applicable legal requirement, consult/inform complying department/section. If compliant, monitor/execute assigned compliance. If not compliant, formulate a compliance plan to comply with the requirement
  • Spearheads the commercial contracts due diligence in coordination with CSUs and BU Depts
  • Monitor, digest, and cascade upcoming power industry requirements from regulatory agencies, affiliate organizations, and special interest groups
  • Conduct periodic deep dive audit of the compliance monitoring systems of the different departments
  • Develops and maintains relationships with internal and external compliance stakeholders to promote Thermal business objectives
  • Provide support to the Lands Team on Lands Matters, particularly those relating to the site being handled.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and planning skills;
  • Good communication and presentation skills;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills;
  • More than 2 years performing legal and/or compliance related work, preferably in the power industry
  • College graduate; law degree or engineering degree preferred but not required
  • Power industry and regulatory knowledge
  • Building Partnerships/Networking (PEMC/IEMOP DOLE PENRO/CENRO DOE NTC PSALM NWRB ERC NLRC PPA CBAA NPC Local government agencies
