Increasing Hiring Efficiency and Business Safety with Automation

While automation seemingly makes hiring less personalized, it and other technologies also make the recruitment process more efficient and more secure

It is well documented how by 2025, millennials will reportedly make up about seventy-five-percent of the workforce worldwide. With the generation’s particular preference for great experiences and not just significant salaries and benefits, employers have continued to adjust their hiring strategies and further enhance their work-culture accordingly, trying to make sure they attract the most talented employees of the soon-to-be most populous generation of workers.

Among the most notable considerations many companies have focused on is producing great candidate experiences to both attract the best millennial talent, and to also help retain them as professional connections as well as clientele. As such, many employers continue to make their hiring processes more personalized, doing their best to make sure candidates don’t feel like they are being recruited by a robot.

However, being accomodating to candidates need not be done sans automation. When selected and leveraged knowledgeably, automation and other software can help employers make the hiring process more seamless, and more time and resources can be focused on making the candidate experience better.

Making Time for a Better Candidate Experience

Among the common benefits of choosing to automate a process is time saved, as steps which are typically arduous can be done at once. During his presentation at the Asia HR Innovation Summit held last September in Pasay City, Peter Earnshaw, Vice-President of Sales and Marketing in the Asia Pacific for background screening company First Advantage, expressed how automation has helped their business and how it can for others.

“We check things, and if a person has to do that, it’d be a consecutive process, because people can handle only one thing at a time. Using robotics, we can do it concurrently. So rather than doing millions of checks and putting in a timeline and we do ‘1,2,3,4,5’, we can take the millions checks and do them in one go. This we can do by automating the process which we follow.”

Along with saving an exponential amount of time, Earnshaw also expounded on how automation helps in improving job candidates’ experience by making application processes easier, and how it also helps in cutting down the costs of hiring companies.

“An automated hiring process helps provide a better candidate experience in that the employee value proposition of employers are delivered effectively, and engagement with candidates are strengthened and not piled onto by a cumbersome process of signing multiple forms. Using automation and related technology also allows cost to be removed from the organization, while delivering faster and better services for less money to clients.”

Increase the Security and Enhancing the Reputation of the Company

A benefit a little less noticed than saving time and resources that also results from the use of automation and other technological solutions in the hiring process is improved security, which, according to Earnshaw, results in a work culture fortified with trust, and company that is then trusted more by its market.

“Fifty-eight percent of employers of employers have caught a discrepancy in a resume, and about twenty percent of candidates in the Asia Pacific had a discrepancy in their resumes in 2017. But by checking people, you can make sure you run a business built on trust. Because you know who you have. You can share financial information with them. You can share IP with them. You can share your space with them, because, you know who they are.”

Indeed, a secure hiring process benefits all parties, as employees will be able to make sure they get the best and most trustworthy hires possible, and candidates with have a pleasant hiring experience knowing their information is safe even in a process that is completed with increased ease.
