Internship Diaries: A day in the life of a Kalibrr Intern

An internship provides students with professional work experience related to their major of study or field of interest. It gives them room to grow for career development and learn new skills. At the same time, it offers employers opportunities to bring new ideas and energy to the workplace as well as construct a pipeline for future full-time employees.

According to UMBC, a quality internship program includes the following:

  • A part-time or full-time work schedule that includes no more than 25% clerical or administrative duties.
  • A clear job/project description for the work experience.
  • Students’ orientation about the organization’s culture, and proposed work assignment(s).
  • Opportunities for the student to develop and achieve learning goals, and
  • Regular feedback to the student intern.

In the Philippines, college students, in particular, experience on-the-job training curated for them by their college or department. In these circumstances, a student acquires skills and competencies in a live-work practice or simulated work environment. Kalibrr provides students the platform to look for internship opportunities on their own in companies they have an interest in working in. Internships or Junior Associate positions are open in fields such as business, marketing, product management, HR, and IT. Similarly, Kalibrr also has internship programs that help students explore career opportunities through work immersion and interest-related activities. To find out more about Kalibrr’s internship program, read on about how these interns got their internship experience as well as what a day in their life looks like.

How did you become an intern?

“I got my internship on Kalibrr through Kalibrr’s website as well. I was actively looking for internship opportunities and part-time jobs when the company messaged me to be a content writing intern. I had previous experience writing articles for online news sites so being a content writing intern resonates with my career interests. Kalibrr is very warm and welcoming to their interns. They really made me feel like I’m part of the team and that I’m contributing significantly to the company’s success.”

What does your day look like as an intern?

“A day in my life as an intern is relatively simple. Kalibrr recognizes that school is an integral part of my life as a student so the workload is very manageable. I usually start my mornings checking my email and Google Chat for messages, inquiries, and meeting notifications. After that, I go on to research topics about my upcoming articles or write the articles in advance to keep myself from having backlogs in my workload. We also have scheduled meetings to analyze our performances as interns. It’s really rewarding to be in an internship program that relates to the career I want to pursue after graduation.”

How did you become an intern?

Back in August 2021, I was looking through different job platforms for a part-time opportunity in recruitment. I’ve just about finished my first internship for a different company at this time and I felt as if I had so much more to learn about the field apart from what I was taught.

On August 13, I received an invite for a recruitment internship opening at Kalibrr. By this time, I had very little knowledge of what Kalibrr offers, so I headed over to the company website to see what’s it all about. I was really impressed with what I’ve read that I decided to grab the opportunity to apply. A couple of interviews and some days later, I started my internship at Kalibrr.

What does your day look like as an intern?

The first 3 months as an intern are very different from the last months. A day in the life of a new intern calls for a full calendar schedule: onboarding, meetings, one-on-ones, you name it. As more weeks go by, you start building a routine according to what’s best for you and get more things done in less time (since you don’t have to stop to ask questions anymore). A typical day for me starts off with a cup of coffee, checking emails, inviting candidates and scheduling interviews, talking to my co-interns, and before I know it, EOD reports.

I learn something each passing day at Kalibrr and I get to build relationships with my teammates outside of work too, which is the best part. An internship in Kalibrr is only one of the many opportunities a college student or a fresh grad can have. There are also numerous opportunities in other companies that resonate with everyone’s career choice or field of interest. Looking for internship opportunities can be as simple as typing your field of interest in a search bar. Try looking for your future internship at Kalibrr!
