Christmas is just a few week’s away, and how great would it be to spend it with family and that special someone? But wait! You say you have no special someone because you’re too busy focusing on your career right now?

Don’t lie to yourself. No matter how often you say this, a tiny part of you still wants to dive into the dating scene. There’s absolutely no shame in that. The goodness that companionship gives isn’t something to be underestimated — otherwise, we wouldn’t be going out of our way trying to meet new people, having our friends set us up, and we definitely would not be using apps like Tinder.

But dipping your toes in the dating scene can be just as hard, sometimes harder than looking for a job. If you do happen to be looking for both a job and a date at the same time, no doubt it’s going to be stressful. If you already have a job and you’re looking for a partner to complete the picture… well, it could still be stressful either way.

There’s always the option of taking your time and going with the flow but, if you’re at that point where seeking seems like a good idea, why not try Diptyc.ph?

More than just Love

Launched early this October 2015, Diptyc.ph is the Philippines’ first exclusive online dating site for professionals. Diptyc is a Greek word meaning two artworks hinged together — and that’s what they’re about. The site seeks to bring together driven professionals and hopefully transform them into friends, colleagues, business partners, and maybe more.

In an interview, founder and CEO Jean-Jacques Lafon says, “a lot of people still think dating sites are for people who are ‘desperately looking for love’ – Diptyc is simple all about connecting likeminded people who you would not necessarily cross paths with in your real life. It’s about making your network a lot bigger.”

Diptyc calls itself ‘exclusive,’ not just so that they can remove the stigma of online dating, but because there really is a feel of the community being handpicked.

Because of its exclusivity, signing up isn’t an easy process too. There are a couple interesting questions you have to answer like “What is your biggest goal in life right now,” and “If you had to go back to school or learn a new skill, what would you want to learn?”

The lengthy sign up is just as much for the site as it is for you. Lafon says, “the sign up process is for our existing members to be able to screen the new sign ups and decide whether Diptyc is the right community for you.”

When you do finish your profile, it’ll be up for review from current members and a few votes to finally be awarded membership. But once you get in, rest assured that your experience would be a whole lot different from other dating sites. See what we mean by these screenshots from their website.

On the “Last Night” tab, users share what they did the previous evening, giving you a little bit more of an idea of what they enjoy.

Under “Opinions,” people answer more questions that you can possibly use as kick-starters to great conversations. Questions range from “If you could travel anywhere, where?” to “If you won a million dollars, what’s the first thing you would buy?”

On the “Dates” part of the site, you get to propose a date. If there’s something you’ve been meaning to try but can’t seem to get anyone to go with you, maybe you’ll find it at Diptyc.

In here, it’s all about the conversation. On their blog, Diptyc champions online dating even more by sharing why they think you should give online dating another chance.

Online dating is simple—it connects you with other people outside your circle. Nothing more, nothing less… You never know, you might just be lucky enough to meet a special someone—someone who’d end up as a close friend, or a business partner, or a professional connection, or even the person who would make you all kilig again.”

On your next lunch break, why not explore the world of online dating at Diptyc. Perhaps this is the perfect time to try again.
